Do I need a mediator?

Seven short questions to help you see whether mediation could help, or whether something else might suit you better. Nothing you enter here is stored or sent anywhere. Your answers stay in this browser tab and disappear when you close or reload the page.

Your safety comes first

If there is domestic abuse, or you're worried about your own or your children's safety, mediation may not be suitable. You can talk to someone free and in confidence, 24 hours a day, on the National Domestic Abuse Helpline: 0808 2000 247 (nationaldahelpline.org.uk (opens in a new tab)). Sutton Women’s Centre (support for women affected by domestic abuse): 020 8661 1991 or suttonwomenscentre.co.uk. Citizens Advice (free, independent advice): Adviceline 0800 144 8848 or citizensadvice.org.uk.

If you're in immediate danger, call 999. If you can't speak, call 999 from a mobile, listen to the operator, then press 55 when prompted.

Has there been domestic abuse, violence, threats or controlling behaviour, or are you worried about your own or your children's safety?

You don't have to explain. Your answer only changes the suggestion on this page.

What do you most need to sort out?
Where are things between you and the other person right now?
Do you think the other person would be willing to try talking things through with a neutral person?
If you did talk things through, would you feel able to say what you need without feeling pressured or afraid?
Is there a court hearing or an urgent deadline coming up?
Would it help to have support in another language?
